Physics of Sports- Bike Jumps
A video of a crazy cool bike jump
We have now officially finished our second project of the year. Our project, Physics Of Sports, was to find the physics in a sport of our choosing. In the beginning, we all had many ideas on what we wanted. Then we finally settled on on the physics behind a bike jump. We worked hard to complete this project on time (due to setbacks). We finished and I'm pleased with our final result.

Concepts
Force of an object is the mass of the object multiplied by acceleration due to gravity.
Mechanical advantage of a machine is how much easier the task is when you use the machine. It is calculated by dividing the input distance by the output distance.
Potential energy is the amount of energy an object at a certain height has the capacity for. It is calculated by finding the product of the mass of the object, acceleration due to gravity, and the height of the object.
Kinetic energy is the amount of energy a moving object has. When an object starts moving, its potential energy turns into kinetic energy.
Acceleration is how speed changes over time. The standard unit for acceleration is meters per second per second.
Velocity is speed in a given direction, and the standard unit for it is meters per second. M/s.
Reflection
I enjoyed a lot about this project. I liked the concept and my group was very enjoyable. My group worked well together. I learned a lot about myself through this project. One thing I need to work on is paying attention. i have a bad habit of zoning out at important moments. I think that another issue is not to wonder off from my group. A challenging moment was when Dalton was sick. This was challenging because Dalton was a vital role in the completion of our project. I think next time we should pick a sport that can be done by anyone in the group and not dependent on one person.
